It happened one night...

This one was narrated to me by a friend. The man in the story is lady's nana ji. (names changed ofcourse)   .......................................................................................................................................................
Narayan Tiwari was uneasy to say the least. It was well past eleven. The village was engulfed by slumber and darkness. He cursed himself. Had he not rested at Shankar's house, he would have safely reached home before dark. Shanti must be fuming. He prayed that she would'nt burn him alive as soon he reached home. It would still take him half an hour. He decided to take a short cut through Madan Lal's farm. That way, he would find his gharwali's ire in ten minutes.
Harvest was still a fortnight away. The crop had grown well, he thought. He was painfully envious of Lal's eleven acres. He was dreaming about being the owner of such a stretch, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere and to his absolute horror appeared a woman. She was decked from head to toe and appeared very distressed. Narayan was about to die of a cardiac arrest when she spoke. "excuse me bhai ji, but can you help me find my way. I had come to that wedding, but lost my way while coming back."

"Wedding?" asked Narayan surprised, "which wedding behenji? There was no wedding in Ramchowk tonight. What are you talking about?" She pointed behind him, "There, werent you invited? Cant you see the lights?" Narayan turned to look. It was pitch dark. He turned back. "No behenji, what lights are you...." The  words were swallowed back when he saw the smirk on the lady's face. He realized he could see her clearly. Clearly... In the blinding darkness.  "You still dont get it, do you...... Narayan?" she said laughing into the haunted stillness...

  2. Now this has freaked me out! How the HELL??!! They're mirror images! And same time, same day... I refuse to believe its a coincidence. Ghost stories never really scared me. But this one!!

    1. Well...at least the concept (both to do with lost people and play of lights - light in mine, and darkness in yours) is identical.

Can I tell you something else? )(now pls don't freak out completely)..I penned my story around 11.50, saved a draft and got back to some other work...then around 12.30 i reopened it, edited it and posted it (at the time when you were simultaneously writing and posting yours). I'd originally written it as a 55# fiction..it got pulled somehow.. :D

    2. This actually gives me an idea for a longish horror story..about 2 bloggers writing similarly, and how their lives cross in more ways than one...nice no? :P

  3. *sob*
plus our ghosts Sri. They both appear distressed, talk about non existent places, play with light, and grin in the end. I think she is the same. Because my story belongs to the sixties..yours is recent.. Toh tab se woh modern ho gayi hai :D ... Ok I wont joke about this. its serious! :D

    1. Remember one of my earlier comments on your blog, about us being each other's alter egos? :P It's slowly taking a definite form.

We could go on endlessly about this..sadly, it's a pain here, through the comment box. no?

  7. Hmm, two writers, write about the same ghost lady, at the same time, past midnight. Now this is creepy beyond words. Perhaps this calls for the services of a tantrik :D Oops, maybe I shouldn't have joked about it. Phatichar, maybe you can include in your story the girl who joked about it too.

  8. This is really weird. Two stories in a row by two different bloggers,...similar theme.. and both of them gave me the creeps (romte khade ho gaye...twice).

You know... I used to walk alone at night to my home from the train station (while returning back home to Mumbai on Friday nights from Pune). It would be post 2 AM...and have met a few people at times asking for addresses. I would just tell them what I knew and move on,...never ever paying attention to their shadows or anything else.

I'm glad like anything that I hadn't read these posts pehle. God knows how I might have reacted then.

    1. For that matter.. I think I'm not gonna dare walk home in the night alone anymore...even if the opportunity presented itself.

  9. SOUMYA- Hahahaha! What an idea! :D Thanks!

    SHREYA- HAHAHA! you bet!

SUMITRA- I know pal.. Even i dont feel like joking about this. Last time I wrote a scary tale, my lappy caught fire for no reason. the paranormal community is very touchy.. :D

SRI- This time the author is pretty much as petrified as the reader. And frankly, bhoot or no bhoot, it isnt exactly advisable to venture out alone aj late hours.. :) Was wondering, how awkward wud a ghost feel, if u dont pay attention al his tricks and just move on. :D

vaise.. Smthn funny.. Al d ppl who have commented here have their names begng with S... :D
